I started troubleshooting Macs as well as freelance design and building clientele in 1995. I provided the same support as today only for Mac OS System 7-8. I was one of only 200 Apple Authorized Business Agents worldwide...
I've been through 3 other pieces of software over the last decade looking for something that worked the way I do. I needed to move away from the traditional mailing of an invoice and create something that looked good on screen and was easy to read to email my clients. Billings gave me what I was looking for with its well thought out design. Billings appears to have been designed around invoicing unlike previous software I've used that was an accounting program first and invoicing seemed like an afterthought.
My previous software did not put invoicing first, so project work was complicated to look at. Creating and sending invoices was a pain and wasn't good looking at all. Sometimes my previous software confused me and I had been using it for years.
First it was the layout followed by the customization. I like how I can detail every aspect of the job from multiple hours in the same day to week long projects. I regularly have timed and fixed billing which Billings accommodates. I like that Billings is a modern application and not an updated app with legacy code that was dragged in from the 90's.
With Billings my workflow is so much simpler and my invoices make sense. Billings allow me to break down each aspect of a job regardless of the days I worked on it. Billings reports are used almost daily so I can keep track of ongoing work and unpaid invoices. Before Billings I would keep separate notes related to a job in different areas and bring them together when creating an invoice, Billings allows me to do everything within the application. With Billing Touch it's nice to have my database with me when my computer is not.
Billings gives me more tools to track my time better and makes it easier to invoice my clients. I can keep track of tiny details and track variable amounts of time per job. Overall it's just easier to invoice clients now.
