Billings 3.6 with Multi-Currency Support Available Now

March 16, 2010 on 8:26 am | Ryan Cash

Many people have been asking for the ability to invoice clients across the world in different currencies – we’re happy to say it’s here.

Billings 3 with multi-currency support ships today, and will work with Billings Touch 1.1 (submitted to the App Store yesterday, pending approval).

Along with multi-currency support, Billings 3.6 has a few new features:

  • Ability to reorder Estimate slips in the create Estimate window
  • You can now drag an email from Mail.app into the Links area in a Project’s card. Billings will remember the message id and in the future, when you double-click, it will open that email. You can also edit the link name so that it is more memorable.
  • Changed the default button when deleting an invoice to be “restore” instead actual delete. Actual delete is the alternate button now.
  • Added a few fields (currency symbol, currency code, invoice) when exporting slips to text
  • Added the ability to do bulk invoicing. Go to the All Clients (Project mode), sort by unbilled, click on the blue cells, do the invoice and continue. Previously, the view would change and you’d have to go and re-select everything again.

Full release notes are available here.

You can click the “Check for Updates…” menu item in Billings for an easy in-app update, or download it from the Billings website.

Billings Touch Available Now!

January 5, 2010 on 5:08 pm | AJ

We are very proud to finally introduce Billings Touch to you.

Judging from the tweets, emails and forum posts, many of you have been eagerly waiting for Billings Touch and it’s finally here.

For Marketcircle, this is the second iPhone/iPod touch app. Both Daylite Touch and Billings Touch are major apps, not little utilities.
Billings Touch is different from Daylite Touch because it can be used by itself – without Billings Mac or with. This makes Billings Touch our first app available to non Mac users.

When we began our design process, we didn’t want to do a me-too timing app. We wanted to raise the bar – something we can be proud of. As you know, from my previous posts and my various interviews on BNN, we think the iPhone represents a new form of mobile computing. It’s the next phase. The iPhone is not just a “smartphone” – it’s a computer that happens to make calls and fit in your pocket.

A few of our beta testers marvelled at how much you can accomplish with Billings Touch. Much of it for free and some for pay. We’ve employed one of the App Store’s new features – Free download with “In App Purchase”. This will give you an idea of how the whole app works before buying. You can even pair with Billings Mac so that you can see it in action with your own data. If you are happy, unlock it to sync and/or to send invoices.

Get all the details on our new Billings Touch page. Download it and give it a try.

Until next time…

Billings 3.5 ”Trojan” Released

December 30, 2009 on 1:20 pm | AJ

We are calling Billings 3.5 the ”Trojan” release because on the surface, it doesn’t look like much has changed. Underneath however, it’s a totally different story.

This release adds synchronization support for the upcoming Billings Touch – Billings’s iPhone brother (submitted to the App Store for approval last week). That’s huge, but you don’t immediately see it. Only a new preference pane, a “Unfiled Slips” source list item and a menu item has been added to support Billings Touch. It’s pretty easy to miss actually.

Underneath this spartan visual change, we changed how the database records changes and how it deals with Address Book.

When we planned Billings Touch support in Billings – we thought “how hard could it be?” I mean, we have considerable synchronization expertise in house (by way of Daylite Offline, Daylite Sync Services, Daylite Touch with over the air sync etc…). It can’t be that bad. Problem was – Billings was never built to synchronize.

After months of effort, Billings 3.5 successfully implements this big change. The beta team has been using it in production for months now (a couple of billing cycles). Along the way, we’ve gained performance improvements for big databases and a couple other small things such as MailPlane support and the ability to print invoices with the Paid stamp. We also lost one thing – Tiger support. With only 6% of our users on Tiger, we decided it was time to drop support. This gave us the ability to leverage the work Apple has done in Leopard and Snow Leopard.

Billings 3.5 is a free upgrade for Billings 3.x users and is required for Billings Touch.

So go ahead and get it by either hitting the “Check for Updates…” menu item in Billings for an easy in-app update, or download it from our newly updated Billings page. Release notes are here.

Until next time…

FoneConnector 1.0 – Telephony Integration with Daylite

September 1, 2009 on 9:22 am | Ryan Cash

FoneConnector for Daylite is a new and flexible inbound telephony solution for Daylite and offers unique and native CRM-telephony-integration on Macs. The number of an incoming phone call is automatically matched by FoneConnector to the appropriate Daylite contact in the actual Daylite database and triggers a Call Window.

In this Call Window a Daylite-user can track call-duration, take notes during the phone call and add various Daylite-elements like appointments, tasks, projects, opportunities or attach pre-defined Daylite-forms. All those elements are automatically linked to the appropriate contact in the Daylite database. The user can even link the phone call to existing projects, opportunities or groups to which the caller is already linked to.
