After diagnosing corruptions in preferences and permissions in my Mas OS 10.4.11 primary user account, Apple guided me through creating a new user account. The problem now is that Daylight 3.7 will not launch; I cannot access my contact database. Can you help me solve this problem? Thanks, WCR

Yes there are instructions - check the Help in Daylite and look for LightSpeed. Also - you have to make sure you have the latest version of LightSpeed (you may have to re-download 2.5 - a component on the LightSpeed side was missing in earlier downloads).

Please note - this is not a medium for support questions.

I just downloaded the daylite to Lightspeed connector. It shows under the connectors menu, but when I go to setup, not a thing happens. My Lightspeed and Daylite servers are on separate machines. Could this be the problem?

Is there any documentation at all available?

Thanks!

Lon,

No where do we say it is a "sync", we clearly state that is it a push and pull operation. Once you setup one or more profiles, you can invoke it using AppleScript (using cron every few hours for example).

If you want to migrate data, then you can simply use the 21 day trial.

As far as the cost, of course it is extra - that is why it is on the "add ons" page. It is licensed per server and not per user. The cost is cheap when you compare it to the alternatives - double-entry or simply not having any integration.

We had a few places use the beta for an extended period and they are quite happy with the time savings and convenience. They were also happy with the price.

We will not allow *writing* to the database tables directly because of data integrity concerns (and the various optimizations we do). We are exploring a read-only license however (which would be more costly than the connector).

Thanks.

P.S. It's Daylite and not Daylight.

I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed. As a Filemaker developer and Daylight user, I eagerly anticipated the Filemaker Connector presentation at your MacWorld booth.

First. Everything on this site leads one to believe that this is a new capability of Daylight 3.7; in fact, each of the connectors is a separate plug-in that must be purchased. The Filemaker connector costs twice as much as Daylight itself.

Second. While the interface for the connector proved elegant, it has to be run every time you want to sync data either way between Filmaker and Daylight. It's not a live two-way connection and certainly not the syncing tool I'd thought it was going to be.

Essentially, and the presenter at your booth agreed, you've built a migration tool and not an efficient syncing tool... an expensive one at that.

So, how about opening up the OpenBase files so we can connect directly (and live) with Filemaker?

It would be great to have a mySQL connector or PHP API as we could use it in house and for client projects. Going to have a play with the FM plugin as that will be a good start for web publishing (the FM PHP has a few seconds overhead that a direct mySQL won't).

Cheers!

Hi Jamie - we haven't had much request for a MySQL connector so far, so it's low on the list.

Thanks Terri. It's a great show so far this year. It would have been really nice to have you there. There is always next year.

Hi AJ:

I'm so disappointed to not be working with you playing with all the new, great features. I'm just so excited about the Lightspeed integration and Daylite Delivery is just a cool new feature that will make using your iPhone even more fun.

Great job guys! Have a great MacWorld!!!
