November 9, 2011 on 11:25 am | Ryan

Marketcircle Cloud makes Billing Pro simple to use with your whole team. It’s a great example of how web apps can tie together with native apps and make it easier for teams to work together, cross-platform.

An in-depth review of Billings Pro with Marketcircle Cloud by the folks over at Web.AppStorm.

Getting ready for the post-PC world

November 8, 2011 on 2:54 pm | Ryan

Mr. Jetha, 42, is a self-taught software specialist, rather than a trained software engineer. He credits childhood hours spent with Lego for teaching him how to put things together, and giving him the building blocks of entrepreneurial success. “If you have the desire to do it, just do it,” says Marketcircle’s chief executive officer.

The Globe and Mail interviews Marketcircle CEO Alykhan Jetha for it’s Business Without Borders series.

Check out the video below (unfortunately they only made it available in Flash so it won’t play on your iPhone/iPad – quite ironic given the title of their article):

Billings Pro 1.5.4 released with German language support

November 7, 2011 on 2:02 pm | Ryan

Billings Pro 1.5.4 is now available in the Mac App Store.

For this release we’ve localized the app interface and invoice templates in German.

We also fixed a few French localization issues and a bug with the go-to arrow in the Estimate Slips area (for OS X Lion users).

Note: Billings Pro 1.5.4 will work fine with Billings Pro Server 1.5.3

As a reminder, we offer a plugin that integrates Daylite with Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners.

Scanned documents can be stored as chronological history under the relevant object in Daylite, making it fast and easy to access them when needed. ScanSnap integration allows you to quickly scan documents and bring them into your Mac, letting you easily link them to projects, contacts, sales opportunities, and more.

Congrats again Sean, and thanks to everyone who came by our booth!

Our forums will be down for maintenance on Wednesday

November 1, 2011 on 12:19 pm | Ryan

Our forums will be down for maintenance this Wednesday, November 2nd.

The actual maintenance window will be from 1 pm – 9 pm Eastern Time. Sometime during this time frame, our forums site may experience up to 30 minutes of downtime (hopefully much less however).

After the maintenance, you may notice a minor change in the sign-in/registration system we use on our forums. Your login will stay exactly the same, but you will notice that you are logging directly into our community, rather than using the LiveCloud login system. You will no longer see the LiveCloud logo when you sign in; this change is designed to make the login process more seamless for you.

London International Technology Show Recap

October 27, 2011 on 5:23 pm | Ryan

We just got back from our first trade-show in the UK and wanted to take a minute to share how it went.

Marketcircle sponsored the MacUser Awards Show which took place last Thursday, and were proud to have been nominated for Business Software of the Year. Although we didn’t win, we still ended up as a 2011 MacUser Awards Finalist.

Here are a few pics from the event:

Us after finding out we didn’t win :(

For the following 3 days we had a booth at the London International Technology Show – a show featuring exhibitors in several different industries, with Mac being one of them.

Since the show was a mix of Mac and PC vendors, we were able to talk to quite a few people that were considering switching their PC-based businesses over to Mac. The iPhone and iPad were often mentioned as the precursors that sparked their interest.

The show also featured a “Mac Museum”, showcasing some of Apple’s iconic hardware achievements during the past 35 years. It was interesting but at the same time bittersweet, with the recent passing of Steve Jobs.

We had some help at the booth from local partners, including Bill Verkaik from JG Consulting, and Amal Douglas from DMC Consultancy. Just want to take a second to extend our thanks once again – thank you!

To end this off I’ll share a few photos from the show floor:

And finally, an offtopic photo – a Veyron in the London Bugatti Dealership (I’m a car nut).

…luckily there was a racing simulator at the show to keep me at bay ;)

Cloud “rolling” downtime over the weekend

October 20, 2011 on 9:48 am | Ryan

We’re going to be doing some server maintenance over the weekend again to our Cloud system that powers Billings Pro.

We’ve scheduled this maintenance starting Saturday October 22nd at 9:00 am EST until Monday at 9:00 am EST.

The maintenance will mean a downtime period of only approximately 10 minutes for each account.

During these 10 minutes, synchronization, control panel, and Timecard will be unavailable.

You can still continue using Billings Pro during this time, as it’s a native Mac application that can work offline – that’s the beauty of this system.

We’re going to do our best to work on accounts during times where they’d be less likely to be active with the product (e.g. in the middle of the night), based on your location.

We apologize in advance for any inconveniences this may cause.

REMINDER: you can always check status.marketcircle.com to see the status of Marketcircle Cloud.

[UPDATE] Migrating MobileMe to iCloud

October 14, 2011 on 10:37 pm | Ryan

We’ve done some research into the MobileMe to iCloud migration feature (which was not apart of the iCloud Developer Beta).

We have a couple of findings on the Daylite front:

  1. If you do not turn off Address Book sync in Daylite, you will indeed get duplicates
  2. Once you’ve migrated your contacts to iCloud, those contacts no longer participate in Sync Services, thus there is no sync happening between your Daylite contacts and your iCloud contacts

How to get around these:

  1. In Daylite, go to the preferences and turn off contact synchronization before you migrate from MobileMe to iCloud. Once migrated, do not turn on contact synchronization, otherwise, you will get duplicates.
  2. We know that the great majority of our users use Address Book sync to get Caller ID functionality and for address, email, phone completion in various other apps (i.e. Mail). You can accomplish this with iCloud by exporting your desired contacts from Daylite as vCards and importing them into Address Book in your iCloud group. Periodically, you can re-export your contacts from Daylite and re-import them in Address Book. From our testing, Address Book seems to detect duplicates fine. Be careful not to replace or overwrite records that have been edited in Address Book.
  3. To get new contacts from Address Book on your iPhone into Daylite, use the new “Import iOS Contact” in Daylite Touch. On your Mac, use the “Import vCard” menu.

We fully understand that having access to your Daylite contact and calendar data outside the Daylite ecosystem is important and we are working towards a long term solution.

For Billings and Billings Pro, the migration from MobileMe to iCloud has no noticeable effect as far as we can tell (we do not use Sync Services in those apps).

Migrating MobileMe to iCloud

October 13, 2011 on 11:30 am | Ryan

We’ve gotten reports from customers that are currently synchronizing Daylite with Address Book and MobileMe are getting duplicate contacts when migrating from MobileMe to iCloud.

We’re asking that you hold off on migrating from MobileMe to iCloud (which we know is very tempting) until we have a workaround to prevent these duplicates.

We have a hunch on how we can prevent this, but we haven’t been able to test it as Apple’s servers are currently overloaded.

We didn’t have access to this feature during the developer betas.

We’ll update you on this situation by end of day Friday.
