Please wait before installing Security Update 2010-001

February 3, 2010 on 3:48 pm | AJ

Updated.

We are asking you to not install the latest Apple Security update (2010-001) on both Leopard and Snow Leopard until we have an update. This security update includes a change to the SSL libraries (for secure communications) which causes parts of Daylite to fail (specifically when you hit 512 MB of data transfer in a session).

We are working on an immediate fix and we will update you on the status in the next day or so.

Just in case you are wondering “why did they not test this?”. The answer is, we have no opportunity to test security updates before they are rolled out (unlike OS updates).

UPDATE – Feb 4: Our engineers worked late into the night and have prepared Daylite 3.9.7 and Daylite Server 3.9.7. If you use both, please update both. You can apply this Daylite update before or after installing Security Update 2010-001. Download here.

Until next time…

AJ et all – PLEASE get this fixed asap. Our business ability is essentially shut down because the main users HAVE to work offline and sync to our server. Thank you for making this your top priority. Eric Wilcox.

    @Eric

The engineers are working on it and have made progress – we’ll post an update later today.

  3. Marcus Rowell says:

Is there anything we should do it we have applied the security updates? We could live with not syncing for a few days.

    Thanks, Marcus.

Hi there. Hope this is the answer to our problem, as Eric we are working offline and with DLT and are all stuck on both device. (ticket 30403) Funny : Eric, seems we are quite in the same business (but not the same place – Brussels/Luxembourg). TKS for your quick help

Could you give a little more guidance now? If the security update has been installed already, what should I do?

Is it an on-line to off-line database issue? So, don’t take the db offline?

    Should I stop syncing?

Does it only effect users who are running DL Server and also local db?

If a user has a standalone install, they are not effected?

You know, if Microsoft did this to users essential business programs, people would be up in arms.

  8. Erik says:

  9. Jamie says:

The first we heard about the issue was from Cynthia from Daylitehelp. She let me know about the problem before it was a problem. So big thanks Cynthia.

Was there email notification from Marketcircle as we did not receive anything?

    Thanks for the quick fix!
