How to Integrate Dropbox and Daylite Projects

January 27, 2012 on 8:00 am | Mike

Using cloud storage to share files amongst team members has become fairly common in recent years. Dropbox has become a popular option for cloud storage by making their product so simple that you eventually stop thinking about whether your files have sync’d and just use it like any other folder on your computer. If you haven’t used Dropbox yet, go sign up for a free trial account now. It’s okay, we’ll wait…

An easy way to integrate a Daylite Project and Dropbox together is by using file references that point to a project files folder stored on your Dropbox.

Optionally, this folder can be shared with other team members too*. With file references, you can point to either a local file, or a website URL. We’ll use a URL in this case, so that no matter which team member clicks on the file reference, it will take them to the correct folder. This same technique will work with other cloud storage providers such as box, that can give you a web URL. In addition, there is a custom box HUD that goes a little bit further as shown by Marni at macangel.com.

We’ve made a 60 second video that shows how this works:

* Check out the Dropbox help site for more info on how to share a project.

The PDF document helps explain how iPad can be used successfully to manage businesses relationships:

iPad is an incredible mobile sales tool to help you manage your customer relationships. With Wi-Fi + 3G connectivity and an amazing 10-hour battery life, iPad keeps you connected throughout the day to command the facts you need, so you’re always prepared for all your client meetings. The instant-on capability of iPad gives you immediate access to your company’s customer relationship management (CRM) data—whether you’re onsite at a customer meeting, in the office, or on the road.

Interview with Photographer Jim Jordan

January 13, 2012 on 12:35 pm | Ryan

Pictage recently did an interview entitled “Inside Jim Jordan’s Black Box.” with a well known photographer that also happens to be a Daylite user.

In the interview Jim discusses his transition from working as a celebrity hair and makeup artist into building a very successful photography business.

He attributes a good deal of his success to building solid relationships, something Daylite helped him achieve.

I built my professional network through relationships with the talent I worked with, and by using an online database called “Adbase” to find clients. This database helped me identify contacts at the biggest companies and agencies, and then enabled me to make new connections that I wouldn’t have otherwise found. I organized these contacts in my personal database that I customized using “Daylite” by Marketcircle.

Jim’s also featured in a Daylite photography case study on our website, where he goes more in depth about his Daylite usage.

Willie The Bee Man

December 1, 2011 on 1:26 pm | Ryan

Our latest two case studies both come from Willie The Bee Man, an expert in bee removal.

Willie uses both Daylite and Billings Pro to help manage his company’s busy schedule and invoicing processes.

Because of Daylite:

“The technicians can complete more bee removal jobs in a day because of the better organization and planning”

And with Billings Pro, Willie said:

“I receive payments faster, and address customer satisfaction issues quicker because I have more time to spend with clients”

Also, a big thanks to Tito at MacWorks for helping WIllie and his team get setup.

As a reminder, we offer a plugin that integrates Daylite with Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners.

Scanned documents can be stored as chronological history under the relevant object in Daylite, making it fast and easy to access them when needed. ScanSnap integration allows you to quickly scan documents and bring them into your Mac, letting you easily link them to projects, contacts, sales opportunities, and more.

Congrats again Sean, and thanks to everyone who came by our booth!

London International Technology Show Recap

October 27, 2011 on 5:23 pm | Ryan

We just got back from our first trade-show in the UK and wanted to take a minute to share how it went.

Marketcircle sponsored the MacUser Awards Show which took place last Thursday, and were proud to have been nominated for Business Software of the Year. Although we didn’t win, we still ended up as a 2011 MacUser Awards Finalist.

Here are a few pics from the event:

Us after finding out we didn’t win :(

For the following 3 days we had a booth at the London International Technology Show – a show featuring exhibitors in several different industries, with Mac being one of them.

Since the show was a mix of Mac and PC vendors, we were able to talk to quite a few people that were considering switching their PC-based businesses over to Mac. The iPhone and iPad were often mentioned as the precursors that sparked their interest.

The show also featured a “Mac Museum”, showcasing some of Apple’s iconic hardware achievements during the past 35 years. It was interesting but at the same time bittersweet, with the recent passing of Steve Jobs.

We had some help at the booth from local partners, including Bill Verkaik from JG Consulting, and Amal Douglas from DMC Consultancy. Just want to take a second to extend our thanks once again – thank you!

To end this off I’ll share a few photos from the show floor:

They say the brain is most receptive when we’re children…

And finally, an offtopic photo – a Veyron in the London Bugatti Dealership (I’m a car nut).

…luckily there was a racing simulator at the show to keep me at bay ;)

Migrating MobileMe to iCloud

October 13, 2011 on 11:30 am | Ryan

We’ve gotten reports from customers that are currently synchronizing Daylite with Address Book and MobileMe are getting duplicate contacts when migrating from MobileMe to iCloud.

We’re asking that you hold off on migrating from MobileMe to iCloud (which we know is very tempting) until we have a workaround to prevent these duplicates.

We have a hunch on how we can prevent this, but we haven’t been able to test it as Apple’s servers are currently overloaded.

We didn’t have access to this feature during the developer betas.

We’ll update you on this situation by end of day Friday.
