In Daylite 3.5, synchronization of contacts is handled by Apple's Sync Services, which takes care of identifying and combining unique contact records from the different sources of the data (Daylite, Address Book, handheld devices, etc.). In some cases, because of the information included with the contact, Sync Services may not be able to identify and combine contact records, and as such duplicate contact records will result. You should manually identify and combine the duplicate records to eliminate duplicates; this should only need to be done once (after the initial synchronization).
To combine duplicates:
- In Daylite, choose Actions -> Locate Duplicate Contacts.
- To combine duplicate contact entries, follow the instructions in Daylite 3.5 Help under the topic "Locating duplicate contacts" - show me this in Daylite 3.5.
Once duplicates have been eliminated, the changes will be propagated to your Address Book and devices.
Please note: Combining duplicates through Daylite is the preferred way of resolving duplicated contacts, as this will give you more control as to which contact data to keep. Using the Address Book 'Look for Duplicate Entries' function instead may result in loss of information from the contact record.
