Marketcircle KB .: Daylite 3.x .: Database .: Cannot connect to the database

Cannot connect to the database

Symptoms: You are unable to connect to your database (online or offline) in Daylite (you get an "Unable to establish database admin connection" error), there is a continuous spinning wheel in OpenBase Manager and/or your databases are not visible in OpenBase Manager.

Solution:

  1. From Daylite (on the host machine), select Daylite -> Preferences
  2. Select the Database Administration icon
  3. Select the Status tab, then click the Open OpenBase Manager button. The OpenBase Manager utility opens
  4. Choose OpenBaseManager -> Local Preferences -> Local Host Settings
  5. Uncheck the "Automatic IP Address" checkbox
  6. Close the window and save the changes when prompted.

Alternatively, if you are unable to get into the OpenBase Manager preferences, make the change through the OpenBase System Preferences Pane:

  1. Quit Daylite (if open)
  2. Open the Apple system preferences
  3. Click on the "OpenBase" icon (located under the 'Other' heading)
  4. Verify if a check is placed in the 'Automatic IP address' box
  5. If there isn't a check, move onto step two
  6. If there is a check placed in the box, uncheck it,  and then click on the 'Configure' button
  7. Authenticate yourself (enter your system password), and then close the preferences window
