What's new in Daylite 3.6?

Daylite 3.6 is an upgrade that comes with many performance improvements and bug fixes.

Note: If you are migrating from Daylite 3.2.3 or earlier, please read the Daylite 3.5 release notes as well. Major changes occurred with Address Book and Palm synchronization.

Leopard compatibility

Daylite 3.6 is compatible with Leopard—the sixth major release of Mac OS X operating system by Apple. If you have upgraded your computer to Leopard, you can now install Daylite 3.6 and start working.

Miscellaneous fixes
  • Global Find now searches the “Details” for contacts and organizations.
  • Changed the behavior of search field in the activity tab to search as the user is typing rather than after they press Enter.
  • Fixed bug where the Snooze Until date field would not be updated to display the current or chosen date.
  • Set minimum size on meeting scheduler sheet.
  • Improved the resizing behavior of the Smart List editor window.
  • Task 'Total Duration' will no longer show “Not Completed“ when a task is done but has no Start Date.
  • Fixed an issue where in some rare cases creating an offline database could fail.
  • Fixed character escaping to maintain proper characters during copy/export.
  • Fixed issue where group name column in the group results pane was not making use of the entire width available, thus cutting off names.
  • Fixed issue where when going to an object from quick find or elsewhere (using the go-to arrow or menu item) the selected object was not being scrolled into view in the results table on Leopard.
  • Fixed drawing issue where in the Task results pane the text would not change to white text when the row was highlighted blue on Leopard.
  • Fixed issue where opening the Help menu could sometimes cause an error in Leopard.
  • Fixed issue where in some cases after doing a database update the application could crash.
  • Fixed issue where if you install Daylite without installing the Daylite Database option in the installer (and OpenBase has not been previously installed on your machine) Daylite would crash upon launch.
  • Fixed issue where users with apostrophes in their passwords were unable to login.
  • Put some safeguards in to detect when note contents being saved or retrieved encounter an error.
  • Fixed issue on Leopard where in some cases a line item could claim it is locked when you try to edit it when in fact it is not.
  • The dock badge for unread notifications is now being updated when the active document changes or when you log out of your database.
  • Editing tasks inline in the progress tab no longer claims it is locked when it shouldn’t be on Leopard.
  • Go-to arrow button in the edit window title bars now has appropriate contrast on the darker Leopard windows.
  • Clicking the go-to arrow for a task from the global find now properly selects and displays the task in the main window.
  • Daylite now requires the server to have the same version or greater as the one installed on the client.
  • The uninstaller is now installed to /Applications/Daylite 3 rather than /Applications/Daylite 3/Tools.
  • Currently connected user list in the database info sheet now shows multiple entries if a single user is connected multiple times.
  • When the user creates an offline database, an Apple Help article now opens up explaining some useful info about online/offline syncing.
  • New Leopard feature which allows you to search for Apple Help and menu items from the Help menu now works properly.
  • Sharing/unsharing databases through the Administration preference client in Daylite now works properly without a reboot.
  • Fixed issue where if the password for a user is different in the offline and the online, doing an online/offline sync would fail.
  • When creating an appointment by dragging an object onto the calendar, the default appointment duration is now used.
  • Fixed some issue where things would be uneditable due to being locked for no reason.
  • Fixed issue where contact/organization/group/opportunity/project priority column in the results list if set to 0 would sometimes appear as 0 and sometimes without any value at all. It will now always appear as 0, so sorting will work properly.
  • If you have legacy custom reports or f-scripts, please be advised that the keypath '.count' on arrays no longer works due to Leopard compatibility issues, and must be replaced with '.@count'. For example, <$if object.contacts.count$> will *not* work, and must be converted to <$if object.contacts.@count$> in order to continue working.
Synchronization fixes
  • Put a check in to warn the user if syncing is not turned on for the computer (option found in iSync preferences) when the user attempts to enable syncing in Daylite.
  • Some fixes to get synchronization working on Leopard.
  • Better handling of certain situations which could lead to a sync failure.
  • Fixed sync issue where when the “I synchronize with an iPhone or Missing Sync for Palm” option is checked off in some rare cases a sync failure could occur.
Calendar fixes
  • Improved performance significantly when loading day/week/month views in the calendar if you have a large number of appointments in your database or if you have a large number of appointments in any given month or week and are connecting to the server over an internet connection.
  • Ensuring that the calendar date picker is always displayed within the visible area of the screen.
  • Fixed issue on Leopard where using the month view could cause a crash.
  • Fixed issue where sizing the week or day view too small when there are very short appointments in it could cause a crash.
  • Fixed issue where entering a time zone in the appointment card or the general preference pane was not working with the auto-completed value, it would only work if you chose the value from the combo box menu explicitly.
  • Fixed issue where for certain time zones the city name was not being stored properly (i.e. if you chose London, when you opened the appointment card again it would show Cardiff).
  • Fixed issue where double-clicking in day/week/month view to create appointment was not using the default appointment duration set in the preferences.
  • The day/weekmonth buttons in the calendar now have their own distinct look for Leopard.
  • Fixed issue where when a user is selected and the event area of the day/week view is double-clicked to make a new event the user is not linked in automatically.
  • Fixed issue where dragging an object to the calendar to create an appointment would cause the title to imply that 2 objects were linked even when only one is actually linked (i.e. “New appointment for 2 contacts”, when only 1 contact was dragged to the calendar).
  • Better handling of situation where the user wants to access the Administration preference pane and either OpenBase is not installed or OpenBase is not running on the user’s computer.
  • Appointment details now show up in the appointment reminder business card view in the Notifications window.
  • Appointment minutes now show up in the business card view.
Import/Export fixes

  • Fixed an issue in the importer where when uniquing on sourceImportID, if the value in the delimited data is empty, it will pick the first record with an empty sourceImportID as the unique record rather than creating a new record.
  • Fixed an issue in the importer where choosing a Form Field was not working in some cases.
  • Fixed issue where in ACT imports the group/subgroup relationships were not being set properly in some cases.
  • Fixed issue where linking a note on import to a contact with email address was not working properly.
  • Added ability to link with the Daylite ID for contact or organization when importing opportunities and projects.
  • Loading an import profile now sets the proper delimiter setting saved in the profile.
  • Fixed small bug in ACT and delimited importers where a full name that contained only whitespace characters could cause an error.
DMI fixes

  • Alerting the user when trying to access an object through DMI that is already in the trash.
  • Fixed issue where when DMI is installed and Daylite tries to open a new email the process could take a long time (beachball) and sometimes the from: field was not filled in afterwards.
  • Fixed DMI issue where the Mail preference pane was hiding the Daylite icon in the top bar.
  • Fixed DMI issue where in some cases emails linked in Daylite could duplicate.
  • Opportunities and projects that are in the trash will no longer show up as linked objects in DMI.
  • DMI drawer now opens automatically on the main window in Mail.
  • Fixed an issue where in Tiger, in some cases, an email set to be linked was not being linked.
  • Adding contact to the Sync List when created through DMI when this option is selected in the Synchronization preferences.
  • Daylite uninstaller now properly uninstalls DMI on Leopard.
  • Fixed issue where when you delete or move the last email in a mailbox, the DMI drawer would not update.
