Important information to be read before migrating to Palm syncing using Daylite 3.5

If you have been using Daylite Palm Conduit v 1.9.2 for Palm syncing in Daylite 3.2.3, this article is a must-read before you perform Palm syncing in Daylite 3.5 using Missing Sync for Palm OS v. 6.0. Installing Missing Sync for Palm OS v.6.0 will remove your old (non-markspace) conduits from HD/Library/Application Support/Palm HotSync.

There is a potential for duplicates if you upgrade from Daylite 3.2.3 (which synced to Palm using Daylite Palm Conduit and Hotsync Manager) to Daylite 3.5 (which utilizes Sync Services and Missing Sync for Palm OS v.6.0). This is because the appointments and tasks that you synced using Daylite Palm Conduit and HotSync Manager does not have any categories assigned in Daylite, but they do have categories assigned in the Palm. Daylite 3.5 and Sync Services assume that the appointments in the Palm are unique and do not consider them to be same as the existing appointments in Daylite. This will result in duplicate appointments.

You can avoid this by ensuring that all tasks and appointments that you wish to sync have categories assigned in Daylite. You could do this manually for each item or use Bulk Edit.

To bulk edit multiple tasks

  1. Choose View > Tasks.
  2. Choose View > List > List Only.
  3. Choose View > List > Column Options...
  4. In the Arrange Columns sheet, add Category to the Active Columns list. Click Close.
  5. Sort by category and highlight the tasks that don't have categories assigned to them.
  6. Choose File > Bulk Edit.
  7. In the Bulk Edit window, select the Category checkbox.
  8. Choose a category from the menu. Click Apply.

You can use the same procedure for bulk editing multiple appointments.
