How do I test backups?

In order to test your backups, store the backup on a machine that does not have a copy of your database.

Note: If there is an existing copy of your Daylite database, you can delete it in OpenBase Manager (HD > Applications > OpenBase > OpenBaseManager). Make sure that there is no copy of your database in the Work folder (HD > Library > OpenBase > Work > database name.wrk). Ensure that there is no copy of the database in Databases.obstorage (HD > Users > Shared > Databases.obstorage).

To test a backup

1. Restore the backup copy on your machine. Refer this knowledge base article for more information.

2. Connect to the database.

Do a random inspection of your database. This is essential as there could be issues related to backups due to past permissions, bad disc, or no room for creating backups. It is good to inspect your database on a periodic basis.
