Here are three common ways to perform a manual backup of your Daylite database:

1. Choose Daylite > Preferences > Maintenance.
2. Click Back Up Now.
Daylite shows an alert 'Backup Completed.'
3. Click OK.

OR

1. Choose File > Database > Quick Backup.
Daylite shows an alert 'Backup Completed.'
2. Click OK.

OR

1. Click the Backup icon in the toolbar.
Daylite shows an alert 'Backup Completed.'
2. Click OK.

Note: If there is no custom backup location specified in Daylite, backups will still be saved in /Library/OpenBase/Backup by default. The backup file will have the file system ownership set to the 'openbase' user. So, if a user tries to manipulate the backup by moving it to another location or deleting it, they will be asked for Mac OS X authentication.

If you wish to store backups in a different location, you can do that. However, you will have to reset the file system ownership to be 'openbase' in the new location. To do this, in the new backup location, choose File > Get Info. In Details, you can set the ownership to 'openbase.'
