Daylite 3 will be installed in
/Applications/Daylite 3 and
can co-exist with previous versions of Daylite. The one caveat to this is your databases.
Daylite 3 uses a different database format and thus needs to upgrade Daylite 1.x databases to be compatible with the new format. This
cannot be undone, nor will a Daylite 3 database work with Daylite 1.x.
Please make a copy of your 1.x database and upgrade the copy to Daylite 3 if you wish to trial this version with your current database.Making A Database CopyTo make a copy of your existing Daylite 1.x database for use with the Daylite 3, please follow the steps outlined in this Knowledge Base article:
How do I make a copy of my database?(Must be done with OpenBaseManager)
Take note of the name of your database copy, as you will need this to proceed.
Upgrading Database 1.x to 3Once you have created a copy of your 1.x database you can use Daylite 3 to upgrade the database to the new format.
- Launch Daylite 3 located at /Applications/Daylite 3/Daylite. The first time you launch Daylite 3, select the "Connect to an existing database" option and select "Continue".
- Connect to the 1.x database copy. The next panel that appears is the "Connect to Database" panel:
- Make sure to change the "Database or Port:" option to be the name of your 1.x database copy you made earlier.
- Change the "Username:" and "Password:" options to match the username and password of the user you use with your 1.x database.
- Upgrading the 1.x database copy
- A prompt will appear advising that a Database upgrade is required:
- Press the "Update Now" button. A backup of your 1.x database copy will be made, and your 1.x database copy will be upgraded to the 3.0 database format. Depending on the size of your 1.x database, this could take awhile (upwards to an hour!), please patient and allow it to continue.
- This only has to be done once.
- Use Daylite!
- Once the upgrade has completed you are ready to start evaluating the Daylite 3. Please note that both Daylite 1.x and Daylite 3 applications cannot be run at the same time.
- Please ensure that you have quit one application before trying to access the other.
- If you accidently open one application and the other is already running, please force quit both applications
