How do I move a database from one computer to another? (For Daylite 3.2.3+ users)

The easiest way to move a database from one computer to another is:
  • Make a backup of your Daylite database on the old computer
  • Go to the backup folder, and copy the backup of the database with the latest date to the new computer (you can use a network, fileshare, a CD, a USB drive or something like an iPod to do the move)
  • Once you've moved the backup to the new computer, install the Daylite application (or DPS if you're a DMI license holder) and then restore the backup database.
  • Watch the 'Restoring a database backup' movie to learn how to restore a database.

After you've successfully restored the database on the new computer, please ensure that:
  • You enter all of your applicable Daylite, DPS, DMI licenses.
  • You should also rename or delete the old database on the old computer so that your users don't accidentally connect to it
  • Make sure all your users are connected to the new server and not the old.
Please ensure that you are using OpenBase Manager to change the various settings.
