Before you upgrade to Tiger, please backup your databases which should be in /Library/OpenBase/Databases/ or /Users/Shared/Databases. Make sure your databases are in a safe place. After you upgrade to Tiger, please reinstall DayLite v1.8 (and DMI 1.2 if you use it) and then restore or copy your databases. On a new install of DayLite v1.8, the default databases location is in /Users/Shared/Databases. If you've upgraded to Tiger before backing up your Databases, you should find them in /Previous System/Library/OpenBase/Databases/.

DayLite v1.8 and the database engine run on Jaguar, but some OpenBase components do not (such as OpenBaseManager). If you are very dependent on Jaguar, you should not update to v1.8. You should remain with DayLite v1.7.3. As we move forward, it will be impossible for us to maintain compatibility with Jaguar. We urge you to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.3.9 or Mac OS X 10.4.x at your earliest convenience.

There is a schema change, so a few steps are required for some users:

Single Users (except those with offline databases):

• Install DayLite v1.8
• Launch it
• Connect to your database. DayLite will prompt on whether you want to update the database. Choose to do so. A backup will be created - which may take some time.
  

Palm Users:

• Once you've installed DayLite v1.8, You will need to install the latest version of DayLite Palm Conduits (v1.6.4). The only change here is to account for the new schema number.

Users with Offline databases:

• Sync all offline databases to their online master
• Users should refrain from using DayLite during the upgrade process
• Upgrade all computers to v1.8 (don't forget the server)
• From one station (could be the server), launch DayLite v1.8 and connect to your main (master, online) database. DayLite will prompt whether you want to update the database. Choose to do so. A backup will be created before the schema changes are applied. The backup may take some time for large databases.
• Do the same process with all computers that have offline databases (you can also delete the existing offline database (using OpenBase Manager) and then recreate the offline databases. If you have not recreated the offline database in a while (especially if you used v1.7.4), then you are encouraged to recreate the offline database.

Multi-User Environments:

• All users must quit DayLite
• Install v1.8 on all computers (don't forget the server)
• Launch DayLite v1.8 and connect to the main database
• You'll be prompted on whether to update the database or not, choose to do so
• A backup will be created - this may take some time
• When the backup is completed and the schema changes have been applied, all users can reconnect
