To install Daylite 3.2.3
1. Download the latest version of Daylite from our
website.
2. Double-click the .dmg file to open it.
3. Double-click the Install Daylite icon.
The setup assistant opens. An alert saying 'This package contains a program that determines if the software can be installed. Are you sure you want to continue?' opens.
4. Click Continue.
If Daylite is already present or if you have another application using the same version of OpenBase Manager, you will get an alert saying 'Same Database Engine Installed.'
If you have an application using a newer version of OpenBase Manager or if you have down-graded, then an alert saying 'Newer database Engine Installed' opens.
5. Click OK. Click Continue.
6. When prompted, click Agree to continue the installation.
7.Select the destination drive. Click Continue.
8. For existing users, click Upgrade. If you are a new user, click Install.
9. When prompted, enter your password for authentication. Click OK.
The installation begins. If you are upgrading to Daylite 3.2.3, as the number and size of databases increases, the time required for installation goes up. The installer will wait until all OpenBase processes have finished starting up before finishing installation. While this is happening, the setup assistant shows a 'Finishing Installation' message.
10. When done, click Finish.
11. Launch Daylite.
Additional information about changes in Daylite 3.2.3
- There is a new (invisible) user created called 'openbase.'
- The installer will now change the ownership of everything in /Library/OpenBase to the new 'openbase' user.
- The installer will also change the ownership of all databases in the configured database path to the new 'openbase' user.
- Because the backup path now must be writable by the new 'openbase' user, the installer will check all databases to see if they are scheduled to backup, and if so, the path is set to a place that is not writable by the 'openbase' user. If so, it warns the user with the following message and reverts that path to the default (/Library/OpenBase/Backup).
"The backup location for these databases will be changed to the default
(/Library/OpenBase/Backup). If you wish to change this you may do so in
OpenBaseManager after the installation process"- The installer will now wait until all OpenBase processes have finished starting up before finishing the installation. This should prevent the problem of a user trying to use Daylite too soon after the installer finishes and not being able to login.
- Because of the above mentioned points and and the fact that ownership of all databases must be changed, depending on how fast your computer is, how many databases are there, and how large the existing databases are, the installation process could take a few minutes longer before it ends.
- If you experience a problem during install, contact the Marketcircle support team.
