When I import from iCal a second time, I get duplicates. Why?

Importing from iCal is exactly that - an import.  An import function will not update or sync information.  It will simply take the information from one application and move it to the other.  Therefore, if you import from iCal several times, you will find duplicates in the database, because there is no way to determine if an appointment is unique or not.
