Marketcircle KB .: Daylite 3.x .: General Questions .: When I try to login, I get a Too many users message?

When I try to login, I get a Too many users message?

This message can appear under the following conditions:

  • Someone is synchronizing an offline database or a synchronizing a Palm right at the same moment you are trying to login
  • The license file has been corrupted
  • Another computer on the network has not released it's connections to the database (even though Daylite may not running)
  • You are using a combination of Daylite, DPS and DMI licences
  • If you have logged into Daylite on the server, you should logout of the server when you are done with your work to keep the connection free for other users
  • If the number of Daylite licenses you have is greater than the number of DMI licenses you own
Possible resolutions:
  • If someone is synchronizing, then try to login after the synchronization process is completed
  • If the license is corrupt, get the rescue app by clicking on this link, remove the old license file and re-enter the license info
  • If you suspect that another computer is not releasing the connection, then restart all computers on the network including the Server (if applicable). One by one, go to each computer, launch Daylite and connect to the database. As soon as you have logged in, go to File -> Database -> Get Database Info. Check the 'Currently Connected Users' value. It should increase by one for every computer that you've logged in with. If it increased by 2, then that's the computer that is not releasing (or is hogging) a connection.
  • If you are using a combination of Daylite, DPS and DMI licences, please contact us using the following form
  • If the number of Daylite licenses you have is greater than the number of DMI licenses you own, try the following as a workaround:
Get All users to quit both Daylite and Mail
Get only the users that wish to use DMI to first launch Daylite, then launch Mail, and connect to Daylite from Mail.
Once these users are successfully able to use DMI, then get the other users to launch Daylite and connect to the database

Please note the following:
  • If users log out of a database instead of quitting Daylite, it's possible that a connection to the database isn't being dropped. Quitting Daylite drops the connection properly, and you shouldn't experience this issue.
  • It would be necessary to reboot the server (or computer where the master database resides) to clear the connections. Alternatively, you may restart the database only by following the instructions in this article.
  • If you are quitting Daylite and still experiencing this issue, please contact us using the following form
  • You should make sure that all licenses are installed on all computers. Daylite works on basis of concurrent usage, which means you need the same number of licenses as the number of users who are logged into Daylite at a given point of time. You can refer this article for more information about adding licenses.
