What's new in Daylite Delivery 1.1?

In order to comply with Leopard security measures, Daylite Delivery has been re-written as a standalone application that works both on Tiger and Leopard.

New features and improvements
  • Now that Daylite Delivery is a standalone application, a Mac OS X user has to be logged in and Delivery must be running at all times.
  • If you've used Daylite Delivery in the past, you should do the following:
a. Stop the old service in the System Preferences.
b. Delete the preference pane located at:
/Library/PreferencePanes/DayliteDelivery.prefPane.
c. Delete the auto start script located at /Library/LaunchDaemons/daylite.plist.
  • Significantly reduced installation complexity. You can now install Delivery at any location on the computer that holds the Daylite database. However, the Applications folder is still strongly recommended.
  • Significantly improved reliability when sending emails.
  • Added support for sending emails using SSL (big request from users!).
  • Added new and more detailed log files for admins to monitor activity. These logs can be viewed using Mac OS X's Console application. The logs are located in ~/Library/Logs/Daylite/Delivery. Shortcut menus to access the logs have been added to the Help menu and on the main application window.
  • Added administrator email notifications when Daylite Delivery encounters some failures.
  • Included the ability to add Daylite Delivery as a login item, so that Delivery is automatically launched when the Mac OS X user is logged in.
  • Added an update notification system. The administrator will be notified via email when a new version is available if weekly updates are enabled. You can manually check for updates by going to the Main Menu > Daylite Delivery > Updates > Check for Updates. New updates can be downloaded and installed from within Daylite Delivery.
  • Added the ability to send test emails in order to verify that mail server settings have been set properly. Errors are displayed in a dialog and written to the DeliveryCore log file.
  • Added the ability to run reports at any time. This feature works in combination with the Delivery preference pane in Daylite. You set up a test run for a scheduled report and then click on this menu item in Daylite Delivery to immediately run the test and regularly schedule reports.
  • Added built-in Apple Help that includes the release notes.
  • Added the ability to send the logs to Marketcircle support (via Apple Mail or Entourage). You can also save the logs to your desktop as a compressed file to email using other means.
  • Added the ability to choose Apple Mail as the mailing engine instead of the built-in mailer. This requires that Apple Mail is configured and working on the computer running Daylite Delivery.
  • Added Apple Mail as a Delivery option for use in those situations where the built-in mailer is not able to deliver the email.
  • Now, the generated reports are put in Home > Library > Application Support > Daylite Delivery. The reports are classified by name, then the year, then the month/day, and then time. This is useful for comparing the reports over an extended period of time (i.e. year over year). You can dispose these generated reports at any time.
Daylite Compatibility
Daylite Delivery 1.1 is compatible with Daylite 3.7, 3.7.1, 3.7.2 and 3.7.3. Daylite 3.7.3 is strongly recommended.
