How to test sync your Palm device with Daylite 3

These instructions are intended specifically for Daylite 1.x users that would like to test synchronizing their Palm device with Daylite 3:

Please note that after you have finished testing, you will need to reinstall both Daylite 1.9 and the Daylite Palm conduit v1.6.4

  1. Perform a final sync with Daylite 1.9 and the Palm device
  2. Hard reset the Palm device (please refer to the Palm instruction manual for information how to do this)
  3. Install the Daylite 3 Palm conduit.
  4. Launch Daylite 3
  5. Open the Palm preferences window Daylite -> Preferences -> Palm Sync
    • Check the "Enable Palm Synchronization" checkbox (if it's not already checked)
    • Click on "Reset database to current"
    • Click on "Reset Last Sync Date"
    • Click on "Daylite takes precedence"
    • Ensure that all appropriate 'object types' i.e Calendar, Contacts.... are set to 'Active'
  6. Synchronize the Palm device
  7. When you are prompted which user you would like to sync to, create a new user profile (one that doesn't exist) i.e 'Test Syncing'
  8. This will ensure that your existing Palm user backup folder is not affected
  9. When the sync has completed, ensure that the information has copied across to the Palm device.

When you have finished testing, please follow the steps below to revert back to syncing with Daylite 1.9:

  1. Install Daylite 1.9 (on step 5 of the installer, please ensure that "Upgrade' is selected and not 'Customize')
  2. Install the Daylite Palm conduit v1.6.4
  3. Hard reset the Palm device

Please note: If Missing Sync users encounter the following message "Daylite Palm Conduit cannot be installed on this computer...", please refer to the following knowledge base article for a workaround:

    • Click on "Reset database to current"
    • Click on "Reset Last Sync Date"
    • Click on "Daylite takes precedence"
    • Ensure that all appropriate 'object types' i.e Calendar, Contacts.... are set to 'Active'
  2. Synchronize the Palm device
  3. When you are prompted which user you would like to sync to, select the original username.
  4. A prompt should appear advising if you would like to restore the contents of your backup folder.
  5. Click on the 'Yes' prompt.
  6. When the sync has completed, ensure that the information has copied across to the Palm device.
