Tip for accurate time tracking

Quick Tips / June 23, 2014 / Kristie

timerInterruptions happen when you’re working. Given that you’re not a robot, you will most likely need to pause working at some point because of a natural human interruption. Some of these humanistic interruptions may be to get up for a snack, answer a phone call, or take a break to watch the World Cup.

When you’re tracking your time for a client, you may not think to pause the timer because you think the phone call will only take a few moments, or you only plan to look up at the game for a few seconds. Sometimes a “quick call” turns into a long explanation about what to make for dinner, or your find your eyes somehow glued to the screen while your favourite team comes really close to scoring a goal!

You can set up Billings Pro to notify you when you’re away from your computer for a certain period of time, or you can set it to automatically pause the timer. All you have to do is change the setting of your idle behaviour for timers. This way when you’re working and get interrupted, you don’t need to worry about pausing the timer because Billings Pro will know that you’re away from your Mac and automatically pause it.

You can also adjust the setting so Billings Pro will give you a warning and let you choose whether or not you want to continue timing when you sit back down at your Mac or laptop. Read this Help Centre article for quick instructions on how to set this.
