How does Daylite work?

How much does Daylite 4 cost?

Daylite is available for $279.95 US per user. A Daylite license includes Daylite for Mac, iPhone and iPad for one user, Daylite Mail Assistant (DMA) and Daylite Server. We have volume bundles available on the Marketcircle Online Store for companies with multiple users.

How many users can Daylite handle?

Daylite is optimized for 1-50 users. It is possible to exceed 50 licenses, however we do recommend that you discuss your specific usage requirements with a Marketcircle representative or your Daylite Certified Partner.

How much does Daylite for iOS cost?

Daylite for iOS is included with Daylite. You can download Daylite for iOS from the iTunes App Store.

Is there a cost for the Mail Assistant?

Daylite Mail Assistant is included with Daylite. You can download Daylite Mail Assistant from our website.

What is DMA? Why do I need it?

Daylite Mail Assistant or DMA is a plugin that ties Apple Mail with Daylite. It allows you to create contacts and activities from incoming mail messages. Additionally, you can store your emails in the Daylite database and link them as history to your contacts and projects.

Do I need a server in order to use Daylite?

Every customer will require a server to use Daylite. There needs to be a central place where the data can be stored in order to keep your data in sync on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Your data will sync every few minutes with the server to give each device the most up to date information. You do not need a server grade machine to house the database (see our system requirements below for more information).


Where can I get Daylite for iOS from?

Daylite for iOS can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store.

What devices can I use Daylite for iOS on?

You can install Daylite for iOS on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch, 3rd generation or later, or iPad. You must be running iOS 5.1 or higher in order to use Daylite for iOS. Each Daylite user can use Daylite for iOS across all their devices.

What happens if I lose my iOS device or it is stolen? How can I protect the data on it from theft?

The data in Daylite for iOS is as secure as the device itself. We recommend that you password protect your device at all times. There is also a remote wipe feature that an administrator can perform from the Daylite Server Admin application to remove data form the lost device the next time it tries to sync.

Is the data syncing between Daylite Server and Daylite for iOS over the internet secure?

The communication between Daylite Server and Daylite on iOS is secure using 256 bit encryption (SSL). The communication between Calendar and Contacts on iOS and CalDAV and CardDAV within Daylite Server can be secure on iOS 5.1 and below using port 6185. On iOS 5.1.1, a bug was introduced and SSL communication does not work. You can use port 6188 without encryption to continue working. We have submitted a bug report to Apple and are awaiting a fix in a future version of iOS.

Does Daylite for iOS work without Daylite?

No. Daylite for iOS is not a stand alone application, but rather a companion application to Daylite on the Mac.


Can I sync data with iCloud or Google Apps?

Yes. Daylite integrates with iCloud using CardDAV & CalDAV standards. This allows you to subscribe to outside calendars from within Daylite.

Does Marketcircle host my data?

We are working on delivering our Cloud solution (similar to the one we have for Billings Pro) for those individuals and companies that do not want to host their own data. If you are interested in being kept updated about when it will be available, complete this form on the pricing page, and we’ll keep you posted.

Can I import data into Daylite?

Yes. Daylite has built in import functionality. Daylite will accept vCards, ICS files and delimited data (both Tab Delimited and CSV). The delimited import tool is the most versatile method as it can accept data from a wide range of applications.

Can I import my ACT! database into Daylite?

Yes. For ACT! users switching over from a PC, we’ve been able to pull more data in through a custom conversion service. Our Certified Partners also offer custom import services.

What languages are supported?

At the moment English, French, German, Spanish, and Dutch are supported.

Is there any support in Daylite for MobileMe?

No. The MobileMe platform is no longer being supported by Apple nor us. It has since been replaced by iCloud.

What kind of support do you offer for Daylite?

Every Marketcircle customer is entitled to support. We recommend using our Knowledge Base, Community Forums, or you can open a support ticket from within Daylite by choosing Help > Contact Support and someone will get back to you in approximately 1 to 2 business days. Please refer to our Troubleshooting Page for more information.


What if I just purchased a Daylite product in the last 30 days?

If you just purchased Daylite Productivity Suite between April 30, 2012 to May 29, 2012, you are entitled to the same number of Daylite 4 licenses. For more information, contact one of our Sales Representatives. Please include your proof of purchase and Daylite 3 license number(s).

What should I consider before upgrading to Daylite 4?

We recommend visiting our Upgrading to Daylite 4 page before making your decision.

I'm on Daylite 3.8 or below. How do I upgrade to Daylite 4?

In order to upgrade to Daylite 4, you will need to update Daylite 3 to the latest version. Once you've done that, you'll be able to follow the steps on upgrading. However, before you do, we strongly recommend visiting our Upgrading to Daylite 4 page to make sure you're a good candidate.

I'm on Daylite 1.x. How do I upgrade to Daylite 4?

In order to upgrade to Daylite 4, you will need to upgrade Daylite 1 to the latest version of Daylite 3. Once you've done that, you'll be able to follow the steps on upgrading. However, before you do, we strongly recommend visiting our Upgrading to Daylite 4 page to make sure you're a good candidate.

Can I use Daylite 3.x and Daylite 4 side by side on the same computer??

Yes, you can install and run Daylite Server Admin 4 and Daylite Server Admin 3 side by side on the same computer. This is possible because they both use different processes and ports. As an example for Daylite Server Admin 3, you need to have ports 6113, 6116, and 6117 open. For Daylite Server Admin 4, you'll need to have ports 6180, 6181, 6182, 6183, 6184 and 6185 open.

The same applies for Daylite 3.x and Daylite 4 client applications. All four applications (Daylite 3.x, Daylite Server Admin 3, Daylite 4, and Daylite Server Admin 4) can be installed and used on the same computer. Please note that you will not be able to connect to the same database on Daylite 3.x and Daylite 4.

Remote Access

Can I use Daylite remotely? Will I be able to access my data over the internet?

Yes, absolutely. Please review our server guide for details on how to setup remote access.

Can I travel with my data?

Totally. When you connect to your database for the first time, Daylite for Mac will create a local copy of your database on your machine. This means that you will have access to the data even when you don’t have an internet connection. While on the road, make whatever changes you need to and once Daylite can locate the server again, it will automatically sync your data.

Another alternative to is to use Daylite for iOS to take your data with you on your iPhone or iPad.

Other OS

Will Daylite work if I don’t have a Mac computer?

No. Currently we do not offer any support for Windows or Linux based machines. Daylite is built exclusively for the Mac platform.

Do you have Android or Blackberry apps?

No. Apple offers Android and Blackberry users some degree of syncing with Address Book and iCal. Daylite can integrate with Address Book & iCal and use them as a bridge to get limited data into your Android or Blackberry device. For best results, we recommend an iOS device.
