Frequently Asked Questions
What if I’m looking to upgrade?
Visit our upgrading page for pricing on upgrading from Daylite 4 and 5 to Daylite 6 Self-Serve.
What is Daylite Self-Serve?
Daylite Self-Serve means you manage Daylite Server on one of your own computers and manage your own backups, networking, etc. It’s a one-time license purchase. If you’re not sure if Self-Serve is the right option for you, visit our Self-Serve vs Cloud page.
Who is Self-Serve for?
Self-Serve is ideal for people that require data on their own premise for regulatory reasons or for people that must operate in a closed network. For single users or small companies that don’t match the above description, we recommend Daylite Cloud.
Where can I download Daylite 6?
If you're already using Daylite and want to download Daylite 6 for Self-Serve, visit our Self-Serve download page.
How long does it take to set up?
It depends. Setting up Self-Serve for local internal access only takes about 5-10 minutes. Setting up Self-Serve for external access or mobile access requires setting up a router, firewall, and static IP address which can take a while if you don’t have the necessary networking expertise or infrastructure.
What are the requirements for Daylite Self-Serve?
Daylite Server should be installed on a stationary Mac running OS X 10.10 or 10.11. For example, a Mac Mini, Mac Pro, or lightly used iMac. For remote access, you should have a firewall capable of port forwarding, a static IPv4 address or a fully qualified domain name.
How does licensing work?
A license for Daylite allows you to activate a Daylite user so it can be used to log in. An active user can use the same login for Daylite on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and on other Macs, even at the same time. For multiple users, the total number of licenses entered controls the number of users you can activate. Each person that uses Daylite would need a login.
If I change my mind can I move to Daylite Cloud?
Yes. If you buy Daylite Self-Serve and want to move to cloud, you can get in touch with our team to help move your database to the cloud. However, once moved to cloud you cannot move back to Self-Serve.
