How do I create a new client?

This article shows you how to create a new client or add a client from another application like Contacts or Daylite on both Mac and iOS.

Mac

A client is a person or company you work for. You can create a new client, or add clients from Daylite, Contacts, MoneyWorks, and/or Quickbooks for Mac.

New Client

  1. Go to File > Add Client or Click the "+" button in the bottom left corner of your Billings Pro window > Add Client A new client card opens.
  2. Enter the details for the client. Click OK.

New Client from Contacts (formerly Address book)

  1. Choose File > Add Client from > Contacts or click the "+" button in the bottom left corner of your Billings Pro window > Add Client from Contacts
  2. In the sheet that opens, select a client.
  3. Click Add.

New Client from Daylite

  1. Choose File > Add Client from > Daylite or click the "+" button in the bottom left corner of your Billings Pro window > Add Client from Daylite
  2. In the sheet that opens, enter the contact or organization name in the search field and press the return key to search.
  3. Select the contact or organization you want to add to Billings Pro. Click Add.
  4. If there are open projects/opportunities linked to the contact/organization in Daylite, Billings Pro opens a sheet displaying those projects and opportunities. You can select a project/opportunity that you wish to import.
  5. If you choose to import an opportunity, you can include line items from the opportunity's estimate. The taxes you have set up in Billings Pro Preferences can be applied to the estimate.
  6. You can select whether you wish to import appointments, tasks, file references, web references, and/or notes.
  7. You can choose whether you wish to import tasks/appointments as either estimate slips or working slips.
  8. Click Import.

New Client from Quickbooks for Mac

In Quickbooks: 1. In QuickBooks, choose File > Export > Lists to IIF File. The Export window will open. 2. Select the Customer List checkbox. 3. Click OK. 4. Enter a filename, choose an export location, and click Save.

In Billings Pro: 1. Choose File > Add Client from > Quickbooks IIF or click the "+" button in the bottom left corner of your Billings Pro window > Add Client from Quickbooks IIF 2. In the sheet that opens, click Open IIF. Select the IIF file you have just exported from QuickBooks and click Open. 3. Billings Pro displays all the customers who were exported from QuickBooks. Select the customer(s) 4. Click Add.

New Client from MoneyWorks

  1. Choose File > Add Client from > MoneyWorks or click the "+" button in the bottom left corner of your Billings Pro window > Add Client from MoneyWorks
  2. In the sheet that opens, select the client. To select multiple clients, hold down the Command key and select them.
  3. Click Add.

iOS

You can create new clients or add clients from your contacts app. All new clients you create in Billings Pro are also added to the contacts app of your device, but they are not linked in any way.

iPad

You can add a client from

  1. Tap the “+” bar at the bottom left of the home screen beside the client lists or tap the "+" button in the top right corner within the All Clients view.
  2. Select one of the following:
  3. New Client: Enter the details of the new contact and tap Done.
  4. New Client from Contact: This displays all the contacts in your contacts app. Select one to be added to the Billings Pro client list.

iPhone

To add a client: 1. Go to the Work Tab 2. Tap the "+" button in the top right corner in the work view, or from within the all clients view. 3. Select one of the following: 1. New Client: Enter the details of the new contact and tap Done. 2. New Client from Contact: This displays all the contacts in your contacts app. Select one to be added to the Billings Pro client list.
