How do I log in to my Daylite 5 and 4 database?

Logging in to Daylite is a very simple and easy process. The steps do slightly vary depending on if you are logging in locally or remotely. This article will explain how do this and what connecting locally and remotely means

Logging in to your database locally

Logging in to your database locally means that you're doing this while in the same location and on the same network as the Daylite Server.

To connect locally do the following:

  1. On the computer you want to log in Open Daylite
  2. At the Welcome screen click the Log In
  3. At the log in window Daylite should automatically detect your Daylite Database and all you need to do is type in your Username and Password and click Log In

If you have multiple Databases running on the same network you can choose which database to log in to by selecting the pull down menu under Server Address & Database and choosing the database you wish to log in. Once done add your username and password.

When logging into the database, do not interrupt by download by putting the computer to sleep, changing your network or quitting Daylite. If downloading is interrupted you will need to start to download again.

When downloading Daylite may show as not responding. This is normal and should not prevent Daylite from downloading the database.

Logging in to your database remotely

Logging in to your database remotely means that you're doing this while in the at a different location and on a different network as the Daylite Server.

To connect remotely, you must first change your network settings. For an outline of this process see How can I setup Daylite 5 for Remote Access?

It is preferred to download your database locally if that is possible. This decrease the time it takes to download the local copy as well as prevents the download from being interrupted. When doing this Daylite will automatically receive the remote address to use when syncing remotely.

To connect remotely do the following:

  1. On the computer you want to log in Open Daylite
  2. At the Welcome screen click the Log In
  3. At the log in window select the pull down menu under Server Address & Database and choose Other Server & Database
  4. Type in the remote network address for your Database and select your database once found
  5. Type in your username and Password and select Log in

When logging into the database, do not interrupt by download by putting the computer to sleep, changing your network or quitting Daylite. If downloading is interrupted you will need to start to download again.

When downloading Daylite may show as not responding. This is normal and should not prevent Daylite from downloading the database.

Logging into the Daylite Sample Database

Included with Daylite is the option to log into the Daylite Sample database. This is a temporary, pre populated database which you can log into.

The Daylite Sample database is a great tool to use when assessing if Daylite is right for you but also is great for testing out workflows for your business or testing imports of large data without affecting your actual data. When you log out of the Sample Database, the database is reset back to the original database.

To connect remotely do the following:

  1. On the computer you want to log in Open Daylite
  2. At the Welcome screen Select "Browse Sample"

If you are logged into your database already and wish to view the sample database, log out and along the menu bar Select Window > Welcome then choose Browse Sample.
