Sharing your Daylite calendar and tasks outside of Daylite

How CalDAV works & why should I use it?


Follow the steps in this article for how to share appointments with CalDAV on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac, as well as tasks on the iPhone & iPad's Reminder app. Quickly jump to the section you are interested in clicking on the side bar.

While you can add appointments and tasks to other programs, CalDAV does not give you the ability to sync with the databases of other calendar services such as Google Calendars or iCloud.


Cloud Sharing on the iPhone & iPad

Follow these steps on each iPhone & iPad that you want to share your Daylite appointments and tasks to.

  1. Open the Daylite App on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Within Daylite, tap Home.
  3. Slide to the bottom of the home page and tap Settings > Calendar
  4. Choose "Install Calendar Profile"
  5. Tap Install in the top right corner and confirm
  6. Tap Done

Success! Your Daylite appointments and tasks will appear in the Calendar and Reminders apps on your iPhone and iPad!


Tip:If you want your new appointments and tasks created on the iPhone and iPad to automatically appear in Daylite, check out Setting Daylite as your default contact and calendar groups on the iPhone and iPad


Cloud Sharing on the Mac

Watch the video below to add your Daylite appointments to the Apple Calendar app

  1. Open Daylite on your Mac
  2. Go to Daylite > Preferences > Calendar Sharing > In Other Apps
  3. Click on the ‘Install Calendar Profile’ button 
  4. On the screen that appears, click the ‘Install’ button

Success! Your Daylite calendar will now appear in Apple Calendar on your Mac!



Cloud Sharing: Other Applications

Any application which supports CalDAV should be able to access appointments from Daylite with the correct server settings for your Cloud account. As each application has their own server setting format, review the application's documentation for specific steps.

When sharing your calendar all appointments will be visible.

  1. Log into your Cloud account manager.
  2. Choose "My Info" and scroll down to "Calendar and Contact Sharing"
  3. Click "New +"
  4. Add the name of the application or person you are sharing your appointments with then click Generate

Now you can use the username, password and server address generated to share your Calendar. If a port setting is required, use port 443.

Success! Your Daylite calendar will now appear in the program you have decided to share with!



Follow these steps on each iPhone & iPad that you want to share your Daylite appointments and tasks to.

Self-Serve Sharing on the iPhone & iPad

Based on your version of iOS follow the steps below to add your Daylite contacts to the iPhone's and iPad's Calendar application.

iOS 11

1. Open Daylite Server Admin
2. Go to the Network Pane
3. Locate your Local Address and make note of this
4. Open the settings app on your iPhone or iPad
5. Tap Accounts & Passwords.
6. Tap Add Account.
7. Select Other.
8. Select Add CalDAV Account.

iOS 10

1. Open Daylite Server Admin
2. Go to the Network Pane
3. Locate your Local Address and make note of this
4. Open the settings app on your iPhone or iPad
5. Select Calendar.
6. Tap Accounts.
7. Tap Add Account.
8. Select Other.
9. Select Add CalDAV Account.

iOS 9 & Earlier

1. Open Daylite Server Admin
2. Go to the Network Pane
3. Locate your Local Address and make note of this
4. Open the settings app on your iPhone or iPad
5. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
6. Tap Add Account.
7. Select Other.
8. Select Add CalDAV Account.

Configure your account matching these settings then tap next:

Server: http://your-server-address:6188/
User Name: Your Daylite username
Password: Your Daylite Password
Description: Name of server or database
*for SSL options upgrade to Daylite Cloud

Success! Your Daylite appointments and tasks will appear in the Calendar and Reminders apps on your iPhone and iPad!<


Tip:If you are interested in sharing your appointments even when you are out of your office use your public address.This also assumes that you have configured your network allowing remote access to your database

If you want your new appointments that you create on the iPhone and iPad to automatically appear in Daylite, check out Setting Daylite as your default contact and calendar groups on the iPhone and iPad


Self-Serve Sharing on the Mac

  1. Go to Daylite > Preferences > Calendar Sharing > In Other Apps
  2. Copy your server's address
  3. Open the Mac Calendar application
  4. Select Calendar > Preferences > Accounts
  5. Click the '+' in the bottom left corner, and choose 'Other CalDAV Account'
  6. Based on your Mac OS, configure your account matching these settings:
    *for SSL options upgrade to Daylite Cloud

    Important: If you make a mistake when setting up the account click cancel and start over. Any attempt after creating the account with incorrect settings will fail with the message Unable to verify account name or password.


    High Sierra 10.13 to El Capitan 10.11

    Account Type: Advanced
    User Name: Your Daylite username
    Password: Your Daylite Password
    Server Address: Your Server Address
    Server Path: /
    Port: 6188
    Use SSL: OFF
    Kerberos: OFF

    Yosemite 10.10 and Mavericks 10.9

    Account Type: Manual
    User Name: Your Daylite username
    Password: Your Daylite Password
    Server Address: http://your-server-address:6188/

    Lion 10.8 and Mountain Lion 10.8

    Account Type: CalDAV
    User Name: Your Daylite username
    Password: Your Daylite Password
    Server Address: http://your-server-address:6188/

    Success! Your Daylite calendar will now appear in Apple Calendar on your Mac!
