Add Your Contacts to Daylite

Getting started can seem a little daunting, and that’s okay. Right now, Daylite may be empty and you might be wondering "now what?"

Since contacts are at the core of any business, importing your contacts into Daylite is one of the best places to start.

Import contacts from Apple Contacts

Contacts is built right into macOS and is a common app to manage your contacts. It is easy to import your people and companies from Contacts, whether you're importing all of them or just a group into Daylite.

Import contacts from iCloud

If you're not using Contacts and instead using iCloud, all you have to do is export your contacts as a vCard (aka .vcf file) and import the vCard into Daylite. This might sound like a big job, but it is effortless.

  1. Log into iCloud
  2. Click Contacts
  3. Select the contacts you want to export
  4. In the lower left corner click the gear icon
  5. Click Export vCard and save the .vcf file to Downloads
  6. Open Daylite
  7. Choose File > Import > Import vCard
  8. Navigate to Downloads and select the .vcf file
  9. Click Open

Once you've imported your contacts, assign each a category

Import contacts from Google Contacts

If you keep all your contacts in Google Contacts, and haven't added them to Contacts, don't fear. You can export a vCard (aka .vcf file) straight from Google Contacts.

  1. Log into Google Contacts
  2. Select the contacts you want to export
  3. Click More actions
  4. Click Export
  5. Choose vCard (for iOS Contacts) and save the .vcf file to Downloads
  6. Open Daylite
  7. Choose File > Import > Import vCard
  8. Navigate to your Downloads folder and select the .vcf file
  9. Click Open

Once you've imported your contacts, assign each a category

Other contact manager

Most contact manager apps let you export your contacts as a vCard (aka .vcf file). If you can export your contacts as a vCard, you can add them to Daylite.

  1. Open the contact application where your contacts are currently stored.
  2. Look for an option to Export.
  3. If you're given the option to choose from different file formats, choose vCard or .vfc to Downloads
  4. Open Daylite
  5. Open Daylite
  6. Choose File > Import > Import vCard
  7. Navigate to your Downloads folder and select the .vcf file
  8. Click Open

If you can't see the option to export as a vCard, contact the developer of the app, and they can assist you, or check to see if you can export contacts from .csv & other delimited text. If you can, check out Import contacts from .csv & other delimited text below.

If your contact manager or CRM doesn't support vCard exporting, or you're managing contacts in a spreadsheet you can still import contacts into Daylite with the delimited text importer.
