Erkki @ Sviiter Creative Agency says:
Want to test it, badly… there are some issues in this version, so it would be nice to see the progress and give some help at same time.
JacoIllus says:
Meanwhile… Daylite still looks like it was designed for OS9
Ryan Cash says:
@JacoIllus
We’re working on that too.
Rasmus says:
Damn.. I cant wait
more screenshots/teasers please
Benoit Rondeux says:
Hi, as a regular user of Billing for more than 4 years, I am looking forward to test the pro version… My company has grown and now the actual “model” of Billings is quite hard to use with 6 persons and time tracking for everyone.
If you need more beta-testers, we would love to give it a try!
Have a great day,
Ben.
Alan Slone says:
We’re chomping at the bit to get this app; the only downside to Billings has been our inability to see each other’s work!
We’d also be willing to be beta testers, if you need any additional ones.
Steve Kieselstein says:
We’re a 7-employee law firm that has been using Daylite for several years, and asking for a multil-user Billings for just about as long. We’re happy to beta-test if you need any more volunteers.
Ryan Cash says:
^ thanks for the offers guys but we’re full at the moment.
dejunky says:
Teasers are always annoying!!!
Will Billings Pro be able to utilise the Leopard Server CardDAV Addressbook entries? Billings doesn’t (as far as I know)
AJ says:
@dejunky
Well, we could just not say anything. Would you prefer that?
Repost from the forums to your same question:

In theory, this should just work. Having looked deeper and the fact that it doesn’t just work, it seems that there is no Apple provided API for this.
Other devs have the same problem with no apparent resolution.
Basically, we have to wait for Apple to give us some API to access this data.

Markus Bischof says:
I think there is a workaround for developers to get access to the CardDAV entries:
- create a CardDAV Account in addressbook
- make a New smart group
I believe it should be possible to access the smart group with the normal addressbook API (untested, just an idea)

Sean Bell says:
Will Billings pro replace billings? Is it the latest and greatest or another option in addition to billings? Will the pro version have line item discounting that retains (still shows) the original line item cost?
Cant wait.
Ryan Cash says:
@Sean
BIllings Pro will be a separate product from Billings.
All I can really tell you for now is that it is a multi-user solution (whereas Billings is primarily directed at single users).

I quite agree with this post: although I’m a good designer and an even better programmer with 10 years experience, I found a lot of difficulties trying to make a custom template, and I finally decided I was just spending too much time and stop studying. I’m using billings from about a year, and it’s VERY good for tracking time, but I never used it to make invoices, because it’s simply too hard to make my own template.
I wrote all this because I sincerely hope you’ll heavily refactor all the template design interface with this next version.
Bye
Rich says:
Is there going to be a migration path from Billings to Billings Pro – for the underlying data and also for custom invoice and statement templates? (Easy bulk entry would be nice too.)
AJ says:
@Rich – yes, you will be able to migrate from Billings to Billings Pro (including templates).
Frank says:
@luca: i am a designer and programmer with 10+ years experience myself and must say that i think that billings’ template engine is outstanding. okay, i must admit that there’s a bit of a learning curve and documentation could be better. but with a little effort and google to the rescue i was able to create beautifully customized invoices. this would have never been possible with other software like billings (not that there IS such a software, but you know what i mean
)
i think they shouldn’t change much about it other than document it better. it really already is a mighty tool!
btw cannot wait for pro. wouldn’t know what to do without my beloved piece of software!
AJ says:
Thank-you Frank!
Steven Beel says:
will making credit note for existing invoices be possible too?
AJ says:
@Steven – no. Our focus is enabling true multi-user.
Chris says:
Bring it OOOOnnn!
We’re the same as most posts… Managing a team / and time tracking them has been the hugest challenge for our business. Daylite just doesn’t cut it. Please Please introduce job numbering or the ability to create custom job numbers. Being able to produce reports based on project, type of task is super important also!
I’m up for beta testing too! I need this to be the solution we’ve been desperately waiting for!
Cheers,
Chris
AJ says:
@Chris – we shipped a couple of days ago. Check it out.
